The Caretakers by Steve Hudgins
5.0
As with all of Steve's other books, this one is another quick, super fun read. Written in a mode reminiscent of a screenplay, he gives plenty of dialogue and frames the scenes in such a way that your own imagination gets to fill in many of the details of the background and surroundings while he drives your attention forward. Looking at vampires through the eyes of the ones helping them with human tasks and bringing them "food", gives a different perspective on the genre, and one that isn't given much attention. Even though his stories are short, quick and easy to read, he fleshes out characters well and gives you, the reader, plenty of leeway to fill in as needed. I have read several of Steve's books and would highly recommend any of them, particularly if you are a horror junkie like myself.
