Before We Were Strangers by Renée Carlino
5.0
The best "second chance" love story I've read in a long time. ❤️
I absolutely loved this book. In addition to being a second-chance romance book which is one of my favorites, this book referenced Craiglist's Missed Connections, which I also love. So if you enjoy either one of those, this is the book for you!
You learn pretty quickly that one of the main characters, Matt is an adult in his 30s who is pretty recently divorced and is back in New York. He is forced to work with his ex-wife and her new husband, oh, and they're pregnant. One day while getting on the subway a woman who looks vaguely familiar gets on the last train ahead of him. As the woman gets on the train and turns around she realizes she recognizes Matt. The train is gone and Matt can not keep up. His friend convinces him to write a "missed connection" ad on Craigslist since "that's what all the cool people do".
From there we go back in time and find out who this woman is to Matt and what their relationship was.
This book gave me all of the feelings, all the emotions. I applaud Ms Renee Carlino for an excellent book. I look forward to reading more of her books.
