The Things They Carried - Kenangan Sang Prajurit by Tim O'Brien, Tim O'Brien
5.0
A lot of things passed inside my head when I read this book. How cruel the Vietnam war was, how pointless every bloodshed was, how in the end the soldier and the dead men were only a piece in the game about a cause they didn't always understand. I have to remind myself that it was only a work of fiction, because at times it felt so real. Afterwards, I feel numb but touched, I mourn for lives I didn't even know. They might not really exist, or maybe their stories are real but altered a little bit, I don't know. I kneel, I pray, I feel grateful to be alive and only experience the horrible war through this book.
It's truly a magnificent work.
