I'd describe this book as Mad Max meets Dark Matter by Blake Crouch.

The worldbuilding is stunning. I wish the central conflict had been a bit bigger, since the main character spends so much time in other worlds, having the drama take place in "our" world felt a little small. That said - all the characters were very compelling and interesting!
