It was a good beginning, but the ending seemed a little rushed and I think this lacked the world building I've seen in other of Mull's works. It's a popular series already with the upper elementary set, though, and since it follows along the same lines of The 39 Clues books with different authors and reader participation I imagine that the plot has been heavily outlined and volume two will expand upon the groundwork laid here.
