Ptolemy's Gate by Jonathan Stroud
5.0
I really enjoyed this series and I did not expect that ending at all. I also thought there’d be a typical romance between Kitty and Nathaniel, but nope! Yay! I still enjoy the sassiness of Bartimaeus so I look forward to reading the next book about him although it doesn’t contain Kitty and Nathaniel. I hope he has someone else to be sassy with.
This book tied the previous two books together so well and the ending was really well done as I would not have expected it in a ya book. I loved the parallels between Ptolemy and Nathanial/Kitty. I actually cared for the characters here and enjoyed the alternate London that Stroud has created. The backstory on Ptolemy was great as well since we were able to see Bartimaeus with a magician he trusted completely. If you like Harry Potter I would highly recommend this series!
Edit: This has given me such a book hangover and I just wish there was more! How could it just end like that?! Reminds me a bit of Harry Potter to be honest...
