The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent

5.0

The Serpent and the Wings of Night is the first book in this fantasy romance series. I really liked this duet and chose it because I was looking for a complete story where I didn't have to wait years for the books to be released. I enjoyed this one a lot and found the plot and world to be familiar but fresh and unique enough that it didn't feel like the same usual fantasy tropes we see over and over. I liked that the FMC was presented as strong and could hold her own. I liked the mystery and suspense elements which made me want to keep reading to uncover the truth behind everything. I didn't love the ending, but I guess that’s why there's book 2 so we can understand this better. I liked that this one was centered around the FMC and we really got to know her. I didn't love the POV introduction in book 2 of the MMC. I enjoyed this first book a lot and would highly recommend.
