I’m writing this after I’ve read both Ashen Son and Daughter of No Worlds (in that order). I thought this was a fun read but, without the world building element that DoNW gives us, I felt a little lost in story at first and the significance of all the names, places, and magical elements. It was definitely interesting to see the beginnings of the relationship between Max and Nura, and how different it looks by the end of book 1. I enjoyed that it was action-packed from the get-go and great setup to see how Max got to where he is today. I do hope this story does eventually get finished as it adds some more depth to all the characters we get to see throughout the series
