I didn’t really start to get invested into the characters until about 60% in. I listened on audiobook and it was hard to differentiate the characters at first. The style is very similar to her other novel, Normal People. Lots of pining, miscommunication and unwillingness to commit. The author touched on some really deep topics. Towards the end I started to fully see the characters and found myself rooting for them. She does a wonderful job writing beautifully complex characters who you find annoying but can’t help but also love.
