Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
5.0
Station Eleven has been starring at me for well over a year now from my "to read" shelf, after a solid half-dozen friends and family had recommended it to me. Having finally zipped through it (thanks, book group!), I am relieved to report that it is as good as was foretold. This is a vision of an apocalypse that is both haunting and extraordinarily human, and deeply moving. What keeps us moving forward, in the end? Our instinct to save ourselves or our instinct to save each other? Our tethers--beautiful and fragile tethers--to civilization's most beautiful things and of course, to each other. A moving and heartwrenching read, highly, highly highly recommended.
