How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper

I absolutely LOVED the setting for this book. Many scenes were recalled from Northern Exposure and Men in Trees to help build my mental images since I've never set foot anywhere even close to Alaska in terms of climate or wide open spaces.
Another useful mental image that I have to especially thank this reviewer for inspiring me with, is to simply transpose the face and body of Joe Manganiello onto Cooper's character, and voilà! Instant sexy werewolf. Just add water.
As for the the main character, Mo, she was delightful. Written in first person, I really enjoyed Molly Harper's writing style and voice. I was slightly worried by the cartoony cover that the humour would be a bit too slapstick and zany, but it was a lot more sophisticated than I'd expected, and I just loved being in that setting and the town of Grundy for the short time that I was.
Mo is a 29 year old marketing executive, having a minor life crisis, and decides in all her wisdom that moving to the ass end of nowhere is the answer. A cabin in the middle of a small town in Alaska seems to fit the bill, so off she pops. You soon learn that she has got every reason to want to escape her life in the South, but that's something I'll let you discover for yourself as it's a very amusing backstory.
The town of Grundy has a feast of great characters to enjoy, and it's a small town where everyone knows everyone. And since the men outnumber the women, Mo is a more than welcome addition to the population.
Well, at least she is to most people. Cooper- surly, cranky man that he is- seems to have a problem with her right from the word go, but Mo's not one to take that kind of thing lying down. Cooper soon learns that kissing Mo is the only real way to make her be quiet. Oh, the hardship.
“You will treat my underwear with the reverence it deserves. Next time, you will stop and appreciate--hell, you'll marvel at the miracle of my ass clad in silk.”
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I thought the secondary characters were extremely well developed, the mystery kept me entertained, I thought she captured the spirit of small town life wonderfully, and I can't wait to read more from this author. I've also got a list of snarky one-liners that I plan on stealing from Mo hence forth.
A funny, romantic book. Highly recommended.
