Thank you to @lovebookstours and @anndentonauthor for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review as part of the Defiant book tour! #ad #gifted
First of all, I’m new to racey reads and this is also the first shifter book I’ve read. Safe to say, this book pushed me straight in the deep end 😂
Matthew, the butler, was hands down my fav character. We love a sarcastic king. Elena is the blunt badass female lead we all need. I adore her and Jonah, don’t even get me started on my fears for them in Defiled 🙈
I want to say a big thank you to Ann Denton for putting trigger warnings on the back of her book! 👏🏻👏🏻 👏🏻
I will say, take the TWs seriously. Some of my own experiences did make the dubious consent scenes quite difficult to read. ⚠️
This leads me on to, Grey. He’s the Alpha. I don’t think I understand the Omegaverse enough to accept his thoughts/actions. His character is probably a huge kink for some, personally just not for me. 👎🏻
The second half really hit the ball out the park. There was a lot more world building, a lot more action and tension. I found myself screaming internally, I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t trust things to go the way I wanted for a second. And that ending 👀
If you’re into Omegaverse hot steamy wolf reads, you’re going to be obsessed. Denton’s writing is SO easy to get consumed in. I finished the whole book in an afternoon, it was such a quick read.

Easily could’ve been higher if I hadn’t been so effected by power imbalance/lack of consent.
