The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo

5.0

*Shivers* Damn.

This book bind up six fairytales that takes place in the Grishaverse. They're dark, haunting & oh so beautifully-written. The narration is Stunning, I felt like someone's reading this to me in the dark. All these stories take inspirarion from our classic fairytales, but not a retelling. Reading this feels nostalgic & I feel like crying and idk why. My favourite is the 1st & last story. The illustrations are also so gorgeous, the art that progresses throughout the story that then leads to a full-page artwork. Just, wow. Please read it.

# Ayama and The Thorn Wood ✯✯✯✯✯
Love this one so much! It's that kind of story that makes me genuinely smile

# The too Clever fox ✯✯✯✯
I wish I'm as clever as Koja. Fun to read and I did not expect the ending. I can't help imagining Koja as Nikolai as the too clever fox is his nickname.

# The Witch of Duva ✯✯✯.5
Probably the least favourite of mine out of the six. Inspired by Hansel & Gretel. I spaced out during the beginning but I love the end.

# Little Knife ✯✯✯✯
Cute story. Though there's nothing too surprising in the end.

#The Soldier Prince ✯✯✯✯.5
Top 3 favourite out of the six. It's the most haunting one for sure. It's the one story that left me feeling a bit spooked, like listening a story in the dark. I mean :
