God Help the Child by Toni Morrison

5.0

I started the book during "reading time" with my husband tonight and finished it. It was for me a super quick read, I became quickly intertwined in the stories of the characters. Although I thought having Bride go through such means to find Booker in the name of love, ended up making her seem desperate despite how "happy" the ending turned out. Why couldn't he pursue her? I found Bride to be the most "wounded" and yet to be healed so to speak she had to chase down a man. A man who left her, knowing how she was hurt in the past and as intimately as he did. But outside of that, I enjoyed the book. There were a few revelations although not surprising that helped move story lines along.
