The Heart of the World by Amie Kaufman

3/5 ⭐️

The ending really saved this book. Honestly, it felt like the first 3/4 of this book was just the characters standing around and staring at each other like that John Travolta meme. It wasn’t until the last twenty pages or so that something actually started happening, and then when things were happening, they felt oddly short? Some of the large character development moments and personal revelations were boiled down to short sentences. Which is odd, because this book is about 400 pages. There’s enough room for those things to be drawn out, trust me. That being said, the end was very engaging and sweet. I also really liked the representation in this book. Everything is very casually done, as it should be. It made me reflective of how our world could be if things were different. Not the most eloquent way to say that statement, but hopefully you’ll get what I mean.
