"Madonna in a Fur Coat" is a short translated Turkish classic from the 40s. The recommendations I saw for this novel said not to read a description and to go in blind. I totally agree, but I will say this lonely man meets a lonely woman in post WWI Berlin. Full of yearning for something you can't truly have. Lingering, atmospheric, poignant, beautiful, and tragic.
