Hand in Hand with Love: An Anthology of Queer Classic Poetry by Simon Avery

medium-paced

3.75

I’m queer, I’m here, and I think maybe I  wasn’t the intended audience. I did really enjoy some sapphic love poems, and I didn’t expect to love _all_ the different poems and poets across multiple centuries, so overall it was a good experience. There were some really cool poems and poets, and I was really impressed by the collection. There was one or two that touched me. Some of it was surprisingly funny too. I would be interested to find out about lesser known queer poems that look more into at identities beyond gay & lesbian after reading this. I should also say, it does feel a little too ~white~. It’s maybe not the most globally inclusive poetry collection.
