I love world building as much as the next person but this book goes about it in the wrong way for me. Guanzon drops us almost immediately into a battle and is throwing all sorts of terms for different magic and materials at you at an unrelenting pace without any explanation. I found it very dense and difficult to read as I couldn't understand the world or magic system. It just put me off of the book.
