Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
4.0
Don't get me wrong: this is a good book. It's an interesting story, of a girl who is left alone to raise herself in the marshes of North Carolina. The story is well-told and readable.
But for me, it wasn't a GREAT book. Coming on the heels of my reading of [b:This is How It Always Is|40409102|This is How It Always Is|Laurie Frankel|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1528314257l/40409102._SY75_.jpg|49038755], I could feel the difference. I wasn't deeply moved. I found Kya and Tate a little irritating. The end wasn't super shocking. I don't know. With all the hype behind it, I expected a little bit more that wasn't there.
So it's good, and I did rate it 4 stars for definitely making me want to keep reading and being very vivid in my mind. But it won't be one of my favorite reads of 2019.
