Trust Kelly Fox to give me a Hallmark-worthy Christmas novella that is sweet, touching, swoon-worthy, and all-around magical. I honestly have yet to read a book by hers that I did not like, which is why she's one of my top favorites. And Frost Impressions was no exception.
This is my first visit to Christmas Falls, a small town made of Christmas puns and filled with so much Christmas magic I want to move there. Seriously, if it were up to me, I'd have twinkly Christmas lights up in my home year-round. So it's safe to say I fell in love with this town and I will be reading the other books in this magical series as well! As for this one...
Frost Impressions is about Gray and Sunny. Seeing the names, you'd expect a grumpy/sunshine pairing, and while it is that, in a way... It's also not that, and I loved that it sort of gave a new twist to one of my favorite tropes.
Both of these guys are just so precious, honestly. Yes, this is a low-angst fluffy Christmas story, but they still felt like real people who have their own demons. All of the characters did. So often in these types of books, the characters become too OTT, but not here. They feel real and authentic and lovely.
Seeing Gray and Sunny get to know each other and open up to one another was everything. They just click. They're a perfect fit and while their romance was fast (novella, duh), never once did it feel unrealistic. They just worked together and even if it went "fast", it felt right. When you know, you know! And the spice was, as always with Kelly's book, perfect.
Really, Kelly Fox just never disappoints. I love all her books and I'm so very very grateful and honoured to be on her ARC team so I can get my hands on new books just a smidge faster. I'm also crossing my fingers that perhaps Baz - Sunny's brother - will get his own book in the next season of Christmas Falls, because I loved him instantly. (And I also know that Kelly has a teensy bit of an issue with letting side-characters stay side-characters & not give them their own book. So... Kelly... Pretty please? Book for Baz?)
