My Dark Romeo by L.J. Shen, Parker S. Huntington

2.0

I didn’t care for the plot of this book and felt it was really absent. The spice was okay. The FMC was incredibly annoying. I enjoyed the banter between Romeo and his friends on the text messages but that was about it.

From the beginning, I enjoyed how Romeo manipulated the situation to get Dallas as his betrothed. And when Dallas made a plan to work with her ex-fiancé to bring him down I expected the plot of enemies to begin here but it didn’t.

A month was spent doing nothing until the wedding and then finally she speaks with the ex-fiancé.

During the honeymoon, losing her virginity in the manner it occurred was ridiculous and I don’t even think possible but she had no emotional reaction to it. Followed by intercourse through their clothes?! Ouch and no thank you.

Dallas had no depth to her personality and being the eldest daughter of a wealthy and powerful man, I would have expected her to be raised with more prowess but also have her own passion. She was being raised to marry for profit but her character just didn’t show that imo. I found her to be incredibly whiny and stuck to nothing it seemed throughout the book.

It would have been a nice plot element if she had passions and strength that Romeo didn’t see for a while. If he assumed her to be a lazy, snack-crazed rich girl until he started to see there was more to her as he looked deeper.

In the meantime she could have been working with her ex to bring him down while playing the role of wife until she realized she misjudged Romeo and his reasons for wanting to be CEO maybe all too late.
