I’m still not a fan of short stories. However, these were interesting. This is my first Moshfegh book so I had no idea what her writing style and voice would be like. All of these stories are so mundane but there is beauty is simplicity. One thing I know I lack in my writing is attention to detail which this book definitely does not lack. All of the characters and setting and movement is described in so many unnecessary details but it’s so easy to visual everything that is happening. Idk. Overall, only one or two stories really stood out to me and piqued my interest. I wish I had started with a novel from Moshfegh instead of short stories to really appreciate her as an author. I rate this book as… mediocre at best.
