This book was unexpected. I like that the slow pace kept me interested because of the characters. The world building was complex but followable. I was hoping for some things to happen in this first book that didn’t, but the author did a nice job writing something that felt unusual for today. This review is a bit rambly, I know, but the story still probably deserves five stars.
