The Handmaid's Tale: The Graphic Novel by Margaret Atwood
3.0
Handmaid's Tale is a story that is terrifying for anyone who is a woman, or a minority group in this world. It is one that takes all of the patriarchy and throws it into full power with no road blocks or no real way to stop it it seems. But throughout this story, we see little ways in which the women do defy the men, and how the men themselves even find ways to defy the rules that have been put in place by others. Something that I think gets overlooked a lot is how while everything was absolutely terrible throughout this story, we also saw ways that there were little bits of hope. We saw how there were always small ways to defy, yes they had to have their guards up at all times, but there is always a way to do certain things out of spite.
I only read the graphic novel version of this book because I could not get the full novel copy, and I was tired of waiting for it.
