I love Hammonds' books because the characters are so real and relatable with epic friendships. You can feel the turmoil within them as they make mistakes and try to figure out how to move forward.
Blake is a particularly strong character. Who struggles with alcohol as a teen, and is trying to find her way and what/who she wants to be and the pressures involved from those around her, even those she's close to.
I also appreciate the imperfect family units who are willing to talk through their issues and work to be better together.
✅ Messy families
✅ Overcoming addiction
✅ Finding your way as an adult
