The pacing was very strange. Parts of the story were painfully slow, but there would be important plot points over in a sentence. I would find myself lost and having to rewind if I missed the one sentence where the plot shifted. The ending was a twist, but not a big enough one to justify the slow burn of the plot. I think this book had a lot of potential but should have been workshopped more. It's clear the author was attempting a study on a moody, dark, troubled town... As such, first person probably was not the way to go. I found the POV switching to be jarring and distracting.
