The Lady of the Lake by Andrzej Sapkowski

1.0

This is a series I kept reading long after I was bored with it because of the belief that it all had to come together in some fantastic finale worthy of the games and TV series it spawned. Having just read the last page, I wish I could go back in time and tell myself not to waste so many precious hours reading the series because it was NOT WORTH IT. Besides all the extraneous scenes of people talking politics and so, so, so much sexual violence toward the female protagonists, it was just...boring. My advice to anyone considering reading the books is to play The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt instead. All the stories in the game are compelling, you don't have to wade through hundreds of pages of gobbldygook to experience them, and you get to spend the whole playthrough with the characters you actually care about instead of hundreds of side characters who show up just to blather and do nothing to advance the plot.
