“But what if the only way of knowing you grew a heart bone is by feeling the agony caused by the break ?”

Heart Bones is a beautiful heart-breaking story that had me smiling, laughing and in tears by the time I finished reading the book!

At the beginning, the book was heart-wrenching, sad, and slightly depressing as I witnessed the way Beyah lived her life with her mother. However, when she moved into her father's house and met Samson, her life instantly changed.

“Home still feels like a mythical place I’ve been searching for my whole life.”

The story explores important themes such as resilience, love, healing, hope, and the complexities of grief and loss.
Beyah’s journey is far from easy, but it made me feel grateful for the life I’ve lived. I was truly proud of her; I wouldn’t know what I would do if I ever found myself in her position.

Seeing Beyah discover all the new things and feelings she never allowed herself to feel or do filled me with happiness because she deserves all these things, just like the new found sibling relationship she formed with Sara.

Samson and Beyah have a wonderful chemistry, they are truly made for each other.
I love the way they understand each other despite the mysterious past of Samson hanging between them.

Heart Bones broke me into pieces, but it was all worth it with that satisfying ending as Beyah finally has the thing she never got when she lived with her mother.
The author has a great way with words and the way she displayed every emotion of each character was fantastic. I’m definitely going back for more of her books in the future!

“Maybe you don’t have to know a person’s history to realize who they are in the present.”
