Honestly, it’s fun to read, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the earlier books. It’s just so repetitive. Anne befriends one grumpy person and changes their life, and befriends another small child and helps to right their life too. I mean, Elizabeth and Paul have generally the same stories. It also doesn’t really do anything to advance the overarching narrative of the series, since Anne is just waiting for Gilbert to finish medical school. That said, it’s still an enjoyable read.
