This is one of those rare books that I knew very early on that it was a 5🌟 read. I was obsessed. This was an absolute breathe of fresh air.
I absolutely loved that this was a more traditional Faerie vibe. I loved that we got a range of fairies and we got to see them both in the mortal realm and the faerie realm. I absolutely adored Poe and his interactions with Emily.
The writing was so immersive, I loved the wintery, small town Norwegian vibes. I was concerned I wouldn't vibe with the academic journal style but I really loved it.

I absolutely adored Emily. She was so socially awkward and her highest priority was her research. She had me cackling multiple times. The dry humour in this was top notch.
I also adored Wendell Bambleby. I wasn't expecting to get "touch her and die vibes" in this book but we got that and it was me screaming. He was such a refreshing change of pace to a lot of MMC. He was quirky and charming. I loved him so much. His and Emily's banter and interactions were absolutely amazing.

This was a massive win for me. I have absolutely no criticism for it. It was written for me, amazing.
