The Pact by Jodi Picoult

2.0

There is nothing like a book that generates discussion between friends, and this one did. Without really giving anything away, this book made my friends and I talk about the ambiguous line between what we believe is right and what the law, sometimes, needs to dictate.

This book was painful and sad and powerful and very, viscerally character driven. Even the characters I despised I understood their motivation. Melanie Gold's denial and deep deep sadness turned anger, although misplaced, was profoundly human. A fun book.
