Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
5.0
❝ IN A WELL-ORDERED UNIVERSE ❞
four years late but look where we are. and this is going to be messy. and probably make no sense.
whenever i start a morgan matson book i'm not that into it. but the more i read of this book the more i enjoyed it until i'd finished the book and i realised i loved it. and then it makes me want to read more morgan matson books.
for the size of the book you'd expect character development and a slow burn romance, but this was way better than i had expected and i'm obsessed with it. at the beginning, i'm not going to lie, i disliked emily but after a while i was rooting for her (and the love interest) - that's good character development. to be honest i loved all the characters, dawn was my precious baby and . i could gush more about the romance but we'd be here for a while so just know i adored it and they're one of my favourite couples.
whilst this book was enjoyable the thing that really made it was the little moments and things such as the playlists that were such an unique addition (especially number #14 catch me sobbing at that). but overall i was obsessed with the scenes ugh all the scenes were amazing ive just realised im so soft. emily's growth and arc was so amazing and to see how different she was at the beginning and the end really makes me happy and proud :'). i love the friendship dynamic and how real the characters seemed
i don't know what more to say, i'm still unsure of the rating as i don't really like to star rate books anymore but it would be a high rating. i freaking love this book. the ending was so good and left me so happy. the fact that the list was prominent throughout the novel was nice as it didn't just get left behind at the beginning and therefore get mislead by the blurb, buT it was fleshed out and important. we stan a list. someone make me one, but i probably won't do it cause i'm a baby.
also FINALLY EMILY ISN'T STRAIGHT LIKE SHE MUST BE BISEXUAL OR PANSEXUAL, I DON'T MAKE THE RULES, IT JUST RADIATED FROM THE PAGES SWEATY.

between the four as well as emily and frank, yaLL IM EMO AGAINSpoiler
especially with dawn being mad about emily and frank's kiss and how frank and emily acted after the kiss. also when they reached south carolina i felt mad at sloane but after a while i understood (and was proud of how emily handled the situation, not letting it slide like she used to)i don't know what more to say, i'm still unsure of the rating as i don't really like to star rate books anymore but it would be a high rating. i freaking love this book. the ending was so good and left me so happy.
