All the Queen's Men by Linda Howard

So...This book. It is clear it was written a while ago from several things I had issues with, but my biggest issue was this: The rapey sex. No sir, I didn't like it. It pulled me straight out of the story, and there aren't just one but two different scenes with two different couples that bothered me in this regard. The consent is definitely not made clear, and...shall we say care is not taken that all parties are adequately prepared for intercourse? But the girl orgasms, so that somehow makes it all okay.
And then there is the end. By which I mean it just...ends. There is no resolution of the relationship, I have no idea how the characters will make things work, no idea what they plan for the future, and we even leave it in a place where I'm not really convinced they're a couple. Sure, they've said, or at least implied "I love you" but there are an awful lot of obstacles in their way and the story just stops with everything still up in the air.
