Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
3.0
I know that people love this book, but unfortunately I really just didn't. The world wasn't that compelling, the characters weren't that compelling (except that I loved Bankole). I felt like, reading it in 2024, it didn't really have anything to say, or at least didn't convey a fairly obvious warning in fairly obvious terms. I'd love to listen to a lecture on why this book was so important when it came out, or what it carries on its own terms, beyond an incredible author's legacy
