Mistaken Identity by Lisa Scottoline

4.0

"Legal thriller" is an entirely appropriate characterization for this novel. Bennie Rosato's new client Alice Connolly is accused of murdering her lover, a police detective. Defending Alice plunges Bennie into a personal quandary, for Alice may in fact be her (evil) twin. Scottoline sets up this story nicely, shifting points of view from time to time, as revelations of police and judicial corruption unfold. Scottoline portrays Bennie's psychological struggles particularly well. The conclusion, however, came as something of a shock.
