Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton
4.0
When people talk about a dark romance, I did NOT expect this dark! And I absolutely loved it! WARNING: Spoilers ahead!
Also, can we talk about Zade? An amazing man who takes down sex trafficking rings just because he wants to? His stalking is definitely hypocritical (and I'm so glad he recognizes that) but goodness does it do things to me! I absolutely love how protective he is and wish Addie had seen that benefit sooner. Could've saved herself a lot of headaches (and terrible things happening to her in the end).
What really got me was the smut. It was *chef's kiss*. I gotta tell ya, when the first scene involves a gun? Thanks to Den of Vipers, I've now realized this is absolutely a thing for me.
H.D. Carlton, you're amazing and I can't wait for #2!
Spoiler
I loved the fact that Adeline was a writer living in an old gothic mansion. I know that speaks to a lot of us with writer dreams. We could easily see ourselves in Addie. Same with her impulsiveness (I mean, confronting your stalker in your front yard in the dead of night?) But I am SO glad she is the way she is!Also, can we talk about Zade?
