Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

2.5 stars

I recommend this book if you
-are a fan of Twilight
-would like a detailed version of the Twilight book from Edward's perspective
-have the patience for slow pace

I was very excited for this book as a long term Twilight fan. I read the books before the hype hit and ever since I've loved vampire stories.

This book was unfortunately a let down for me. It was unnecessarily detailed and long; never ending personally. Maybe I should have left Twilight in my teenage past.

I appreciate the insight into Edward's thoughts and his special ability as well as the rest of the Cullen family.

I think if this book was halved it would be much better. I'd rather Stephenie Meyer cut to the chase rather than dragging each scene out for an absurd amount of pages.

I enjoyed reading other people's thoughts throughout the book (as long as it was relevant / added value to the story). My favourite section of the book was the last 150 pages or so, the pace changed and action was injected into the story. I really enjoyed reading about the Cullens journey to rescue Bella from the tracker as this was something that never occurred to me and the detail involved in that scene blew my mind! The way Alice and Edward worked together combining their telepathy and visions of the future was really interesting to read.

This was very much a take it or leave it read for me.
