Wayward by Chuck Wendig
4.0
I'm done letting the world cut us down any further. It's whittled us this far, but now it's going to go the other way. It's going to whittle us sharp. Sharper. Sharpen us into spear tips, whet us into knife blades
I enjoyed Wanderers a great deal, but I think I liked this sequel even more. It took another 6-8 or so months for me to get through this one but wow was it worth the wait. There were critiques I have, but mostly minor, especially as the book went on. I found this to be a beautifully human and entertaining portrait of what happens after the world ends. Over these 1600 pages or so, I truly fell for these characters and found them to be friends. The end of this book is so terribly human. Wendig just understands what it is to be alive, how to maintain pace, and the tangible dangers of our current age.
