Tracks of Her Tears by Melinda Leigh

fast-paced

4.0

I didn’t realize at first that this book was connected to a previous book so it was a pleasant surprise to reconnect with the Taylor family. The version of the book I read had live action media which was a new and different thing. A fun perk of reading in the kindle app on my iPad mini.

I was glad to catch up with Seth and Carly and see them continuing to work through their issues and apparently being successful. In this book a murder victim is connected to Carly’s younger brother so there is extra strain on both Seth and Carly via their jobs thanks to the case.

There are some good red herrings and things are suspenseful all the way to the end with one thread left dangling which I assume will be addressed in a future book in the series.

I like the dynamic here of Leigh and author Kendra Elliott switching off books in the series as they did with a previous series. It gives a slightly different feel but we still operate in the same universe. Fortunately I enjoy both authors’ writing style so it works for me.

There were a few spots that could have benefitted from some deeper exposition
and there are threads still hanging from previous books with this cast that I was wishing were addressed. But overall it was an enjoyable read.
