Bitter Brews and Secret Pages by Emily Campbell

3.0

Harper, a woman on the run from her abusive significant other hopes to find refuge and anonymity in Bayshore, South Carolina. Admitting to herself that she cannot hole up in her late grandmother's house forever, she takes a job at Harbor Crafts Brewing & Books as a clerk in bookstore. Making friends with the staff is difficult because of her apparent trust issues and need to keep her real identity hidden.

She escaped her abuser with the help of a special woman who has made it her mission to empower abused women to regain control of their lives. Harper occasionally calls on her when she has weak moments, but suddenly, she feels as though she is being watched/stalked by her ex. With the support of her "guardian angel" and the friends she has made in Bayshore, she weathers through yet another horrendous storm in her life.

This is a mixture of mystery, suspense, and romance all in one and they type of book that makes you thankful for your own healthy relationships.

Trigger warning: physical abuse, emotional abuse, trauma, PTSD
