BOOK REVIEW
[Fool’s Assassin] A retired assassin tries to raise his family away from court entrigue.

WHAT I LIKED
I love Fitz/Tom and Bee. Their actions make sense (to them and to the readers), but somehow create the exact opposite effect (which also makes equal sense). I love imperfect characters. I love how Hobb can create these imperfect characters WITHOUT going overboard with the self-torture. Although this is the 7th book of Fitz’s storyline, it is a great introduction to Hobb’s world. She has the right amount of review for everyone to understand. I also love the choices she makes to keep the series evolving. It doesn’t grow stale.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE
Caution: there is an absolutely gut-wrenching cliffhanger. Some people love cliffhangers, but I’m not one. There is also an obvious answer to a mystery in the story which I think most readers see waaaaaaaaaay before the characters. I had to keep reminding myself that I an privy to knowledge the other characters aren’t - but they are so close to figuring it so much earlier in the book! I think at least a few of the characters should probably have made the connection along with the readers.
