Hell's Angels: A Strange and Terrible Saga by Hunter S. Thompson

Did not finish book. Stopped at 12%.
I was drawn on by the mystery that surrounds Hunter S. Thompson as a character unto himself; yes, he's a cool guy and he does all the drugs, but God is he a difficult narrator to follow. His exoneration of the Hell's Angels lies in the difficult-to-get-behind defense of their alleged rape, which in some sentences he contradicts and admits they're capable of, is centered in a conviction that he knows the media and they simply overhyped what is just an apparently upstanding motorcycle gang. The schizophrenic bouncing from one idea to another is very Bohemian, sure, but it means ideas aren't followed to any particular conclusion. Characters inspired by Hunter S. Thompson might be more compelling to me, i dunno. Spider Jerusalem, Johnny Depp's acting as the guy, etc...
