Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel

Such a lovely, humanist book. Really excellent characters and storytelling. Also good post-apocalyptic novel. I particularly liked the back-and-forth-in-time story, somehow it reminded me of Cloud Atlas, the stories from radically different eras that inform each other. It gets a little gimmicky in how the same characters carry over from time to time, but that's OK, it's in service to telling an excellent story of how people would react to the erasure of civilization.

One of the best things I've read in awhile. (As always, my Goodreads ratings are very miserly; I only give 5 stars to the very best books of all time. This doesn't quite qualify, but it's excellent.)
