Wait With Me by Amy Daws

3.0

Wait with Me is a cute story, but it's light on plot, and the writing is only descriptive when the characters have sex. During their first encounter, our hero, Miles, touches our heroine’s butthole, because she (Kate, A.K.A. Mercedes) drunkenly rants about how she’s a romance novelist who writes anal sex. She is not, however, a romance novelist who enjoys anal sex. Don’t get me wrong: I appreciate the meta aspect of this book. It's just I've realized I’m more vanilla than our vanilla smut writer. (And Kate is, ironically enough, extremely vanilla.) I want longing glances and mutual pining! I’ve been watching Sanditon and daydreaming about Colbourne. Miles feels more like a real dude than Colbourne, but I don't want a real dude! And I don't want anyone touching my butthole! (In seriousness, I recommend Wait with Me for anyone who enjoys sweet and sex-driven contemporary romance.)
