It starts a little slow, with the attention on Vasya's brother Sasha instead of Vasya herself. But rest assured the book quickly finds its way to Vasya and her story and picks up steam. In fact it changes gears entirely about halfway through and becomes something much better. I was a bit annoyed at the "girl pretending to be a boy" trope, but it's part of the story. And what a great story.
