A Soul to Keep by Opal Reyne
Did not finish book. Stopped at 38%.
Once again, and this may just be a problem I have with the genre, the writing is unbearably bad. Like the sentence-level craft is nonexistent.
The concept is there, the plot has a general shape and all, but you can’t actually appreciate any of that bc the writing is distractingly flawed. It reads like bad high school fanfic, which maybe it is if other reviewers are right about the inspiration for the plot in the first place.
