Lolly Willowes is leaving me conflicted. The first half of the novel is slow and extremely detailed, but the second half is riveting, eerie and genuinely captivating. From my initial reading, I’m seeing this novel as perhaps a feminist Faust, and I’m excited to analyse this novel further for my English degree.
