Magic. Time travel. Demons, ghosts, zombies and vamps. Oh my! Oni’s Tears has it all. This story was fast paced and full of adventure. It even had a bit of steampunk in the theme. Kai Leakes doesn’t disappoint with her colorful play on words. It’s like watching an action movie as her words jump off the page and come to life. I could see the electricity shoot from palms and feel the wetness of the rain as it drenched the characters. Although I would have loved to read more about Fanta, our time with her ended abruptly and sort of put a damper on the flow of the story. However, things pick up again once we meet Oni and her father. I’d better stop talking before I start dropping spoilers. This novella was a short but exciting reading. I give this book four-pages (think four-stars). I knocked a star off because of some minor editing issues. However, Nikki-Michelle recommends this book.
