I gave this book three stars on GoodReads, to which a friend asked if I didn’t like it. It’s not that I didn’t like it. I just didn’t super like it. I was expecting more, I think. The historical story about the Tennessee Children’s Home was chilling and terrible, and I’m glad to know its history. I just found the modern-day counterpart to be a little blah and predictable. I’m glad so many people love this book, it just wasn’t the best book for me, I guess!
