There's nothing all that bad about The Wastelands, but I am wondering if The Dark Tower is not for me. For a book that is supposed to be one of the best, I was frequently bored. The first half of this book was setup. And the payoff? While weird, I wasn't all that sold. This book does end on an interesting cliffhanger, and Steven King knows how to write about one hell of a scary train, but beyond that, I was not all that engaged.
